Appland AB provides “Netflix for Mobile Games”. The consumer gets free access to the best Android mobile games in the world (Disney, Electronic Arts, etc.). We have removed all ads and in-app purchases, and instead the consumer pays a monthly fee. The service is delivered to 60 mobile operators and handset manufacturers worldwide.

The Company was incorporated 2011 in Gothenburg, Sweden, where it is headquartered and lead development is based.

About the Position

We have a flexible dynamic team of great programmers, who handles everything from hosting, backend and frontend development. We are SCRUM fanatics (sprint 239 now!) and love creating disruptive software innovations with a team effort!

The cloud software platform is today hosted on Amazon Web Services (AWS) and can handle 200+ million users. We want to also offer it as an on-premises service, meaning that we need to migrate the software platform to a new hosting environment and develop some of AWS’s services for scaling. The team that handles this, needs reinforcement and this is where you start your journey at Appland!

Yes, but what will I do more in detail?

We are breaking new ground in this project and you will get the opportunity to have a great impact!

Below are some tasks you might be involved in:

• Create new services written in Node.JS/Javascript running on Linux.
• New features and performance optimization for existing services written in Node.JS/Javascript, PHP, Scala etc.
• Help scale up databases via partitioning and other methods.
• Bring in third party open source services as needed.
• Implement big data analyzation.
• Integrate partner APIs in our services (billing, authentication, analytics etc).

Sounds amazing! What skills are needed?

• 3+ years developing for backend systems in Node.JS/Javascript, PHP or similar.
• Worked with databases (e.g. PostgreSQL, ElasticSearch, MySQL, Presto).
• AWS/Azure, Kubernetes, Docker, Linux experience is a plus.
• A genuine interest in software development and be a quick learner!
